Shyne is gearing up to release the first official single from his upcoming album via a new deal between his Gangland Records, and Island/Def Jam.
According to reports, Shyne will drop the single next Tuesday (April 13th), making it his first new single in almost 10 years.
In February, Shyne inked a seven-figure deal with Island/Def Jam and began recording his album in Belize, where IDJ CEO L.A. Reid hosted a press conference announcing the new business deal.
Shyne is barred from entering the United States and was not allowed to enter the United Kingdom in February, due to his criminal record.
Shyne, aka Moses Leviy, was released from prison in October of 2009, after serving over 9 years in prison for his role in a nightclub shootout in 1999, involving Bad Boy Records’ CEO Sean “Diddy” Combs and his then girlfriend Jennifer Lopez.
Shyne was supposed to be featured on DJ Khaled’s album Victory, but the track, named “All My Life,” featuring Akon and Mavado, was dropped for legal reasons.
According to reports, Shyne is collaborating with Scott Storch, who is said to be producing a large portion of the album.
He is also working with producer Coptic, who has confirmed that he created a track for Shyne titled “Hand on My 45.”

According to Miss Info and her sources, Shyne has indeed signed a seven figure deal with Def Jam Records.
Multiple sources have confirmed to me that Shyne Po has signed a 7-figure deal with Def Jam.*
This ends a bidding war that had industry bigwigs vying for Shyne’s attention, flying to Belize, calling and courting, ever since the Brooklyn emcee was released from prison and deported to Belize back in October.
For Shyne to turn down hard-court pressure from Jimmy Iovine/Dr.Dre and others and instead join LA Reid back at his last known recording-residence actually seems like an inevitable move….because I’ve been hearing that Shyne has been pow-wowing with veteran manager Kyambo “HipHop” Joshua for a while now. Joshua and his HipHopSince1978 partners, Gee Roberson, also manage Lil Wayne, Drake, Young Jeezy and more. Meanwhile, my old friend Al Branch is both a partner in HipHopSince1978 and a high-level exec at Def Jam…see how that works? Synergy! Now there have been recent reports of new label-wide pressures, but with this team in place, Shyne is in good hands. As for the logistics, the plan is for Shyne to work out of London, it’s a buzzing hip hop hub with all the necessary facilities.
Oh, and about that first verse which appeared on an early DJ Khaled album leak (and is allegedly scratched from the final tracklisting)…I’m hearing that Shyne didn’t intend that verse to be his first look. After nearly a decade inside, he’s allowed a little time to figure out what direction he’ll take.
*(obviously in this climate, these kinds of numbers are few and far between, so this certainly signals that labels see value in legacy or storyline. Drake got a reported 2 million last year. And of course, this is Shyne’s second time around in a bidding war.)

Scott Storch is goin in with your man Shyne on the new album, slated for 2010. Shyne, the Belizian rapper that served almost 10 years on a gun charges from a shooting inside a Manhattan Nightclub, has producers and artists being flown to Belize. This is gonna be a sick album. I'm just waiting for a mix tape to surface or few tracks to hit the market and you know I will bring them to ya ASAP. In the meantime, check out this interview Shyne did earlier this year - hashing about Puff and the way that he did him dirty on the case. Leave comments and let me know what y'all think.
ALL I'M SAYIN IS: Too bad Shyne had to be locked up for 10 years on bogus/trumped up charges. Thats 10 years the industry had to go without good music, but that's also 10 years of bottled up emotion. Can't wait for the album. Definitely want to talk first-hand with Shyne. Shyne CALL ME!
